Internships are unpaid. Students may obtain college credit and a letter of recommendation after the internship is completed. We ask that interns commit to a minimum of 15 hours and up to 35 hours per week. Internship times are flexible during office hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Start and end dates are also flexible, minimum 3 month commitment.
Qualifications: The intern must be mature, have excellent communication skills, be detail oriented, and passionate about helping refugees and immigrants. Interns must be at least 18 years of age. Interns need to be comfortable working with people from other cultures and communities and be welcoming to all. Interns must be able to work both independently and as a team player. Additional languages are encouraged but not required.
Marketing and Communications Intern
The 2017 Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to develop PAA’s brand and marketing strategy. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
· Develop PAA brand, communications, and marketing strategy
· Lead creative development for specific marketing tactics (e.g. print, digital, social media, Website) from brief to execution
· Provide presentation support and development
· Catalog client case studies
REQUIREMENTS
· 1st Year MBA graduate student with concentration in Marketing or Strategy (preferred)
· Will also consider exceptional Junior/Senior undergraduate candidates with concentration in Marketing
· Strong research and analytical skills.
· Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to create a story.
· Digital marketing, social media or previous experience preferred, but not required.
· Strong Excel and Microsoft PPT skills.
· Salesforce experience desired
· Previous marketing internship experience desired
Development Intern – Donor Relations
The Donor Relation intern plays a crucial role in the development and funding sector of Pan-African Association. As a Development Intern the candidate will effectively communicate and engage with current donors on a recurring basis throughout the year as well as develop and strengthen relationships with new and potential donors. These communications include emails about PAA events and organizational updates, GivingTuesday and year-end donation campaigns, creation of online challenges and more. Intern will work on developing new community engagement campaigns to grow awareness of PAA, strengthen existing relationships, and gain new supporters.
A successful candidate in this role will be proactive and able to work independently. Attention to detail and timeline is a must. Applicants need to be open to hear and share new ideas. Prior donor relations or fundraising experience a plus.
Workforce Development Intern
Workforce Development is a core program at Pan-African Association, placing over 150 clients in jobs each year. The employment service team networks with potential employers, prepares client resumes, assists in interview practice, and researches job openings in the community. In addition, the employment service intern will assist in job-readiness classes. They will gain skills in resume development, networking, interview practice, working with people from other cultures, and administrative tasks.
Immigration Intern
The immigration intern will be assisting in processing applications for citizenship, green cards, and overall immigration support for our clients. They will be a vital part to the Pan-African team while gaining insight into the legal process of citizenship and immigration in the United States. They will be working directly with the clients throughout the process, gaining interpersonal skills and becoming essential to supporting the clients.
